What is Functional Fitness

What is Functional Fitness?

Well let me start off by saying that this is the premise of A Training Edge and the E.D.G.E. Fitness Program....

All workouts are designed around Mobility, Strength and Feeling Better on a daily basis.  Sure, you will get the benefits of Body Fat Reduction, Increased Lean Muscle and Weight Loss but it is not always about the Physical Aspects of why we Exercise.  Having the ability to enjoy life without discomfort in your muscles,joints and general conditioning is priceless and should not be overlooked.

The majority of my clientele are Non Athletes who work full time and have very busy lifestyles.  They are constantly coming to me with the same concerns and goals no matter what age group or gender they are.

Some Common Terms I hear often:

  • I want to have more energy.
  • I have an injury I am trying to overcome.
  • I need to relieve stress and tension from my day.
  • I want to perform better in a particular sport or hobby.
  • I am bored of doing the same things all the time.

 

And most Importantly….

 

  • I just want to Feel Better everyday.

These are just a few of the common terms I hear but I’m sure everyone reading this can relate to one or more of these.  And why not, they are legitimate goals for the everyday person to make themselves feel better and enjoy life more. 

So how do we get there you ask? 

In my opinion, a important step in the process is Functional Fitness.
